from time time wife , use our macbooks wifi networks wouldn't consider secure. or, in case, regurlarly access internet through wifi blocks ports need access too. therefore, i've setup vpn through lion server have working @ home. far, things have been pretty easy. can connect macbook or iphone no issues. but, can't use surf internet.
network configuration is: comcast cable mode -> airport express -> lion server. i've got few ethernet switches i'm using cables run various places in house. dhcp, nat , firewall handled airport extreme.
local network services available when connect through vpn, ie. can ping service, access nas, printer, etc.. but, when try access on internet request times out. so, if try access google.com, times out. if try ping known ip address on remote server, times out. requests not making out of network reason.
so, aspect of network config missing? please don't tell me have use dhcp server in lion, lol...
help.
i use lion server exact same purpose , have no problem vpn'ing in on iphone or ipad , surfing, etc. assuming you've set range of client addresses , entered dns information vpn provide, should go.
also, 1 thing did set add glimmer blocker lion server. way, when connect in vpn, ad blocking on iphone/ipad clients free , don't have deal cydia's sucky adblock apps.
