iPhoto not recognizing iPhone, says "no photos"

i upgraded iphone 3gs 4, , after restoring 4 backup of 3gs (5.0.1 if means anything), began take pictures...much dismay, iphoto on imac (10.6.8) no longer recognize iphone 4 generic "iphone" , said there no photos import. i've tried using image capture, , same thing happens; itunes, however, has no problem recognizing iphone iphone , syncs without hitch. causing every other piece of mac software other itunes not see phone? iphoto date (as apple software).

edit: okay morning downloaded 200 mb security update os x, , discovered after reboot of phone, icloud password needed reentering in settings>icloud. after these 2 changes, working fine.
