AirPlay support for Third-Party Apps on the Mac?

hey folks,

wondering if knows if developers able put (ios like) airplay support in third-party apps? (i.e. mplayerx ->send apple tv).

also, wondering if there possibility of mirroring mac's desktop or if possible "extend" mac's desktop tv.

airplay mirroring. not extended desktop - need use external video port (like tb port) more finer control. airplay though doesn't use video hardware in same fashion.
