printing os x 10.7 printer on windows xp
got stuck @ point had printer selected "windows" route. when tried "choose driver or printer model", tried both (1) "select printer software" , (2) "other". using (1), option filter list (which came blank), implied looking ppd files. using (2) brought file browser no hint find printer driver software. got "others" option work directing browser to:
macintosh hd/library/printers/ppds/contents/resources. got huge list of cups , ppd files in ".gz" format. selecting appropriate hp printer ppd (hp officejet pro l7500.ppd.gz) apparently allows "add" button work installs printer. miss-directions include "installing downloaded hp drivers", seems place file in "...resources" directory, doesn't seem install anything. note stage had set consistent workgroup names , make printer shared, obvious other posts. after printer installed, app file (hp7500.app) appears in ~/library/printers invisible directory default. had stumble on instructions make directory visible. apple should make process lot more intuitive.
