Resolved Installed fonts not available to applications

last week, upgraded 27" mid 2011 imac. 3.4 i7 quad, 8gb ram, amd radeon 6970m 2048mb. came pre-loaded lion; it's updated 10.7.3 (11d50d).

i'm having issues fonts. @ first thought problem suitcase fusion 3; i'd install fonts, , of them wouldn't available in quarkxpress 9, although suitcase showed them active , available. saw same fonts missing in other programs (word, indesign, etc.)

removed them suitcase, , installed fonts fontbook. same issues. main font package used in office adobe type basics opentype edition. converted true-type collection, , problem still occurs. oddly, fonts in family work, , others not. converted them windows tt; no luck.

same exact package working fine on machine running snow leopard. documents created on machine must able opened on machine, , vice-versa, without font substitutions, etc.

possible solutions or ideas? if worse comes worse, mac capable of running snow leopard?

yes, mac capable of running mac os x 10.6 snow leopard, came it.
connect imac in target disk mode other mac (if other mac has firewire) , use snow leopard dvd used on other mac install onto hdd of imac, start hdd , update latest 10.6 version, , boot imac it. did similar late 2011 mbp 2 days ago.
