these forums fantastic. hoping opinions on following.
work large medical device company , due new computer. had mac pro @ job previous 1 , computing power outstanding. doing standard graphic design stuff editing large images, creating print materials, web graphics etc. using photoshop, indesign , illustrator. want bring of our video editing in house can avoid paying different vendors large amounts of money anytime need change our videos. have 20 videos surgical footage, demos, technique guides , anywhere 2 25 minutes long. these videos need updated couple times year when reference, claim or else changes. right have 5 or 6 different video vendors , gets expensive pay these guys simple edits myself. anyway blah blah blah i'm going on forever.
so, if guys going have company pay mac pro graphic design , video editing, choose? i'm thinking 2 2.66ghz 6 core enough (12 core total), 16gb ram (i can expand later) , i'm looking advice on raid card, , graphics card.
far software goes newbie video editing think should purchase adobe premier. need find training/classes take on too.
in advance input guys have. being part of these forums , exchanging free information.

the 12-core might overkill simple premier stuff. if having work pay, go it. might 5870 upgrade. raid card can answered else not need or use hw raid. 16gb fine 3rd party buy raid card difference in price.
