either buy mac os x 10.6 snow leopard upgrade dvd apple online store 29 usd or contact apple getting replacement disks model (2008 had 2 models, 1 aluminium mbp in 2008, , unibody mbp in late 2008). should cost between 15 30 usd, maybe send free (mention hdd failure).
