Is there something wrong with my USB ports?

i'm getting feeling power coming usb ports on mac pro not consistent. had 2 logitech unifying receivers die on me plugged 1 of 2 ports in front. remember reading somewhere, usb ports in front have stronger output or that. question is...

1. possible?

and

2. there way circumvent happening again if is? using powered usb hub , plugging mac pro first , unifying receiver (or else) hub?

 

usb ports can't damage devices plugged them. sounds quality control problem logitech dongles.
