Connect to TV with composite input

i have hooked macbook pro hdmi samasung tv apple mini displayport adapter cable neet , great. have tv has no hdmi input have composite. bought hdmi composite lead when connected mac mini displayport adapter there no signal. have bought wrong cable? can done?
