black screen after update. macpro 1.1. All help is much appriciated

updated mac pro 1.1 10.7 10.6.3 last night. went , worked fine. turned comp off when went bed. morning got black screen , nothing else. seems booting since characteristic "plop" sound when hitting volume keys on keyboard.

possible helpful info:
-graphics card: x1900
-the lights turned on during booting red ram lights promptly turned off again.

p.s. tomorrow asus 6870 directcu i. can plop comp if x1900 busted? 6870 supposedly working fine 10.7 (not sure asus 6870 directcu i)

so black screen , fix put non supported pc card in it?
