this simple question, appears when try add new application shortcuts in system preferences don't work. i'd calculator work i've tried few other programs , don't work either. missing?
i may wrong, don't think there native way launch applications keyboard shortcuts. application shortcuts bit in system preferences > keyboard shortcuts can use when you're in given app.
if want setup keyboard shortcuts launch apps though, can download (and buy) apptivate app store, or if you'd prefer free option, can try following (from mac os x hints):
so, create service using automator single action launch application. set conditions of service receive "no input," , make available in applications. save service , create shortcut on keyboard shortcuts tab of keyboard system preferences panel.
note shortcut not work in apps (firefox, one) don't support services.
