iPad color temperature

one of first things noticed when comparing 3rd gen ipad previous 2 generations (side side @ home), 'warmer' color temperature.

not extreme yellowing here finding - difference in brightness , color rendition on new ipad when compared original ipad or wife's ipad 2.

after living few days , reading bit more, have concluded change in color temperature correct (not sure if deliberate or not, suspect so).

if @ page of tom's hardware review of new ipad, you'll see new ipad (ipad 3 in figure) comes closer rendering of adobe color space. in particular, covers more of 'warm' colors ipad , ipad 2.

measured color temperature dropped ipad2's 7100k 6800k - shift warmer side , closer ideal color temperature recommended hdtv calibration (6500k).

also, if when looked @ page of colors - block of pure red looks closer red on ipad 2 - bit orange eye.

whites different , equivalent brightness levels seem @ different positions on slider, consider changes in color rendition correct , not worrying 'yellow' on new ipad.

ymmv

just compared new ipad son's ipad 2 , right. red looked different -- orangish on ipad 2 , more accurate on new ipad.

sharing!
