Target Disk Mode Questions

there imac throwing ? inside folder when booted, or pinwheel of doom.

to:

start imac in target disk mode

plug in imac mbp firewire 800.

use migration assistant pull data imac external drive plugged mbp.

can wipe/reinstall osx , plug in external drive imac , use migration assistant pull data onto imac.

possible? point destination or folder migration assistant?

 

it bit complicated though.
following.

• connect imac in target disk mode mbp.
• connect external hdd mbp.
• download , start carboncopycloner.
• select imac has source (and select/deselect folders want/don't want) , external hdd target.

that way can later use migration assistant import data clone.
know, external hdd needs formatted properly*.

if want backup files, use finder.

how format new hdd/ssd install mac os x or make bootable copy onto​
