i have wireless connection internet, , using mbpro online. wireless isp uses mac address verification; permitted connect 1 device directly wireless network, due "wireless overhead issues." or such. permitted, however, create own network, provided connect network using 1 connection.
here's i've done: have iphone, ipad, , appletv, connected airport express base station, cat-5'd mbpro gateway connect internet through mbpro's wireless connection. using waterroof nat.
here's thing. can stream iphone appletv, , ipad appletv, no problem. airplay works champ. if disconnect mbpro internet, , connect airport express's wifi, can stream mbpro well. when mbpro connected internet, , acting gateway, can't find appletv.
i'm assuming broadcast issue or something, , need tell airport express allow communication gateway wireless network. know how that?

is express in bridge mode? sounds me express doing nat again.
if you're interested in trying it, might able simplify setup using 2 expresses -- 1 in client mode connect isp, nat & dhcp, , wired connection directly between 2 expresses. way, macbook pro client, rather gateway.
