Bluetooth earpieces -- 3.0, 4.0, does it matter?

my last bluetooth earpiece motorola years ago. remember being horribly disappointed (it ended in trash).

have iphone 4s, i'm hopeful can find that's usable.

wonder ones out there people having best luck with, iphone 4s. bose? haven't seen rated bluetooth 4.0 yet, , i'm not sure matters application -- please enlighten me on that.
