Apple to Require Explicit Permission for iOS Apps Accessing Address Book Data

hours after pair of u.s. congressmen sent letter apple requesting information on privacy practices, relate address book data being collected , stored apps' developers, apple has issued statement allthingsd indicating issue addressed in forthcoming ios software update.

apple has been testing ios 5.1 time, appears have slowed development company assumed waiting release public alongside ipad 3 next month. company has not, however, specified whether new address book permission feature included part of ios 5.1 or if arrive in form of separate update, perhaps ios 5.0.2 update enable faster turnaround on fix.
