Upgrade Mini with SSD or HDD?

this older 'noob' getting rather confused.

want upgrade mac mini 3,1 2009.
getting slower en hdd getting fuller.

wondering if i'd better off bying ssd (crucial m4 128gb) or 7200 rpm hdd (wd scorpio black or seagate momentus xt).

take old hdd replace optical drive, i'd have enough space internal. (external 1,5tb available)

confusion starts:
read different things on different sites installing ssd (in mini).
prior installing osx 1 must 'adapt' things, e.g. firmware, trim, ide setting (?), periodic reconditiong, etc.

guess want know if it's possible ssd working smoothly in 2009 mac mini?
or better buy hdd?

sure specs of ssd reagrding start-up time , acces time.

looking forward replies.

regards netherlands :apple:

owc (macsales.com)

sounds if looking similar solution have done macbook pro. have owc mercury extreme ssd (240gb) primary drive optical drive replaced original hd using data doubler.

got following through owc. since these ssds utilize on provisioning , wear leveling should not experience issues os x not supporting trim. remember 2009 mini not support 6g model. not notice of difference anyway.

got optical drive adapter in order keep optical drive, still use infrequently.

hope helps. same way if had again. best upgrade have ever done. luck -w
