i have been working toward organizing photos managed aperture library. have 130k pictures last 14 years of digital photography sins of disorganization coming home roost. it's tedious process, making progress. have 3 questions:
1. there advantage using aperture vault if backup hard drive using carbon copy cloner? haven't done backup yet since importing photos managed library, , wonder if ccc lengthy process every time on, since aperture library 1 big file.
2. why doesn't aperture library work itunes? itunes has front end library , manages files in finder structure automatically, individual songs still readily accessible individual files. aperture same thing, insists on using 1 big, non-user accessible structure (for intents , purposes) file structure. seems have implemented same way in aperture have best of both worlds (referenced , managed).
3. quitting aperture seldom works correctly , have 'force quit'. hangs on "updating information sharing previews". common problem? repairing database help?
thanks
edit: title should "3 aperture 3 questions". thought of 1 mid post.
your a3 library not 1 big file. "package"... folder "looks" object. right click on a3 library... choose "show package contents"... , see files there.
because there no reason ever edit library.
recommend buy robert boyers ebooks. can found on http://photo.rwboyer.com/ , excellent. spent few hours re-reading them weekend. learn tons every time re-read them.
