Syncing iPhone iOS 5 to a new mac

i tried researching wasn't able find helpful.

iphone synced itunes on mba, , want synced new mac mini i'm in process of getting (so don't have yet). considered doing time-machine backup/restore on mac mini, don't want (unless have to). if following, able sync mac mini without losing information on phone:

1. update itunes on mac mini latest software update.
2. authorize mac mini on apple id.
3. iphone on mba
4. copy entire itunes folder on mba external hard drive.
5. copy iphone back-up file/folder/location onto external hard drive.
6. replace itunes folder on mac mini 1 on external hard drive.
7. copy iphone back-up files corresponding location on mac mini
8. sync/restore iphone on mac mini

theoretically in head seems it'll work, hoping if someone's had experience doing confirm or give me tips. thanks!

if makes easier, don't care songs/playlists can set them again later. don't want lose other information on phone (texts, voice mail, apps, photos, etc.)
