Lion mail text wrapping questions

on imac, using os 10.7 mail, email message text wraps in resized windows , other email text not (sent or received)--it goes off right edge of window. know has using plain text, or rich text. not clear rules on when will, or not, wrap text.

work same way in snow leoopard?
