Drama with the blue screen at start up.

i have been dealing blue screen quite while. started when installed seagate ehd. took off software it, bluescreen remains. way let me start or turn off mac if unplug keyboard , mouse (so non mac items).
have tried reinstalling os, did nothing.

on apple website says try this:
"starting in safe mode

if see login window prompting user name , password, starting doesn't progress, may have incompatible login items.

eliminating incompatible login items

repair startup disk or disk permissions starting mac os x installation disc , using disk utility."

i'm tired , have cold, going on head, turn off mac, , then,....no, put installation disk mac first, turn off, , @ start ask me start using disk??? or put cd in, , go disk utitilities (where ever is?)
don't play behind scenes stuff much, can't afford take in, if can myself. need direction. fixed trash problem using terminal thingy.
