story getting traction morning wall street journal article how new ipad users consuming monthly bandwidth allotments on lte. covered story on our ios blog. while conclusion may seem obvious, carriers beginning consider other ways shift bandwidth cost away consumer.

in particular, wall street journal notes at&t considering plan allowing content providers pay usage of apps:
if implemented, presumably allow bandwidth usage apps free. example, watching shows tv network app such abc player might not count against monthly bandwidth allotment. instead, abc pay at&t (or verizon) mobile bandwidth consumed. in return, abc see increased usage of app watch shows , more revenue in-show advertising.

mobile carriers in u.s. have been moving away unlimited bandwidth plans on past few years. instead bandwidth sold in specific allotments (2gb, 3gb) per month additional fees overages.
