Can i nuke the Recovery Partition?

i wanted find out if there major downsides yanking recovery partition besides losing ability to...recover.

have external bootable lion installer, , backup regularly. if worst comes worst know how on feet.

can't seem ignore fact on half gigabyte of precious disk space sitting there largely unused 'just in case' scenario.

 

nuke it.
