Broken iPad 2 screen, wait for iPad 3?

thread title says, broken dropped daughter's ipad 2, christmas present no less, , broke screen. anyway, apple store said replace new ipad 2 have charge $279. i'm wondering if wait until ipad 3 comes out still exchanging ipad 2's or might exchange comparable ipad 3. thoughts or

thanksexperiences when ipad 2 came out?

 

plenty of refurbished ipad 2's give or fixing screen. not getting 3 replacement. sorry.
