AppleTV Streaming Requirements

i'd use home sharing feature of appletv stream rips of dvd collection other tvs in house. that's pretty ambition product.

let me straight... in order stream, need itunes 10. in order run itunes 10, need run leopard or better. itunes collection on mini that's running tiger... need fix that.

why important version of osx or itunes running on computer, when appletv going heavy lifting far video playback goes? afaict, mac's job grab file , shoot on appletv, hardly complicated task beyond capabilities of tiger/itunes 9.

seems lame move on apple's part. hardware capable of doing want do, software won't allow because setup doesn't meet apple's standards. again, that's kinda mantra of appletv "hobby".

if have intel machine, can snatch snow leopard 30 bucks. going spend around 100+- leopard install dvd.
