2010 27" iMac vs. 2011 Mac Mini + 27" Thunderbolt Display??

hello everyone, quick buying question here...

own 27" imac 3.2 ghz i3, , considering getting 27" display port display i'm having trouble buying knowing it's outdated tech thunderbolt out.

considering selling imac , buying refurb mini 2.5 ghz i5 along 27" thunderbolt display, i'll buy 27" in future.

main question whether or not 2.5 i5 huge downgrade (or upgrade?) current 3.2 i7. using computer software development in both osx , windows.

if not mistaken, geekbench score mac mini considering 6393, , score current imac 5928. notice difference? maybe...i don't know.

why wouldn't buy new 27" imac, starts @ $1700? refurbished 2011 (quad core) model starts @ $1420 (and comes same warranty).
