Mac Mini 2010, soon

hi,

friend offered me mac mini, upgraded 8gb, in nearly-never-used condition, sounds great price (€150). don't know type, assume it's base version 320gb hard drive. i've been considering entering mac world quite time now, cannot refuse opportunity. mini serve homebase freelance activities, want fast , reliable. here considering:

- first, know bit messing around , getting feel os etc. know intro guides, don't need this.
- then, upgrade hard drive ssd. ones recommended these days sata 6g. supported 2010 mac mini ? if mini has 3g, notice difference when using 6g on 3g ssd ? also, there speed increase of picking 256gb 1 on 128gb 1 (i know 256gb goes faster 6g) ?
- not using dvd drive. make sense go through effort kick out , turn ssd+hd machine (assuming it's not server variant) ?
- more storage , time machine, i'd connect external drive. have usb 2.0 enclosure, sufficient ? how overhead tm anyway ? notice impact when using slow drive ?

thanks,

peter.

congratulations & welcome!

might find mac world whole lot less fiddling hardware & more creating software.

ssd great not necessary.
usb 2 fine - notice overhead when time machine running, mine's running on network, rather locally connected disk.

now, explore os x , apps, ilife, aperture & few other things - perhaps elgato tv tuner usb stick record tv & create stuff

enjoy
