Price Advice Used Tower, or New MacMini?

i used on every piece of apple hardware ever produced, went college, after got job. suddenly, keep new apple hardware.

faithful 2.0ghz macmini 2,1 showing age. went on apple's store check out new macmini , macpro go these days. happy enough macmini price, threw little in mouth when looked @ how expensive cheapest tower was. know, nothing new there.

went on craigslist check out if selling mac pro reasonable price, knowing full resell value on apple computers pretty decent.

found sort of surprised me. following computers in following price ranges available, , seemed norm if @ surround metropolitan areas..

macpro 1,1 dual 2.66 woodcrest - $600
macpro 1,1 dual 3.0 woodcrest - $700

both have higher stock ram , hd numbers.

in no particular order, 3 things find myself wanting in computing environment are:
  • dual monitors
  • external multibay hd case
  • ability use real graphics card, , upgrade it.
  • more processing power in general, lots of photography , throw around rather large raw files. i'll duel booting windows 7 soon.

newest macmini satisfies 1 , 4. on surfaces uneducated mind says 1 of these old towers gives me current mini has, , satisfies 4 of desires. before go spend $700 on computer, missing something? first gen macpros limited in way?

i'm not against spending upwards of $1000 on 2nd or 3rd gen macpro if opportunity presents self. heavily suggesting 1 of models based on besides processor speed okay suggestion.

, help/advice/criticism!

sounds you've answered question. if don't have need thunderbolt or displayport, means pick older mac pro if find deal.

of course, imac option, although still doesn't satisfy 2 , 3 fully, it's more power mini. , there's hackintosh route if you're sort of thing.
