Terminal and Cisco Switches

my company decided switch macs , far these things great. i'd able migrate did on pc macbook pro. i'm having issues connecting cisco switches using builtin terminal. command is

ssh switch.work.com - l username

i'm prompted password i'm expecting, won't accept credentials. know they're correct because try same ones on putty windows machine.

tried
ssh - l username switch.work.com , same results. appreciated.

what happens if try this:

ssh username@switch.work.com
