Original iPhone for a backup AT&T phone?

where travel, sprint service rather spotty, keep at&t gophone me in case need contact someone.

have problems buying original iphone , keeping in car this? use music player. understand outdated , apps limited, might cool have original iphone , less expensive.

other suggestions?

 

this work fine. iphones work fine at&t go phone sims.
