i own 2010 quad core 3gb of memory. recommendations on how add , in configuration. little home studio work studio 1 , garageband , couple midi devices. expect these programs tasking on memory resources. leaning towards either 2-4gb sticks , leave 2-1gb sticks installed or 4-2gb sticks total of 8gb. think plenty or need more? preferred configurations or amount i'm talking matter?
on paper (benchmarks), running 3 identical modules yields best performance because they'd run in triple-channel mode. in practice, difference between , running dual-channel configuration (2 or 4 modules) pretty insignificant versus having more ram.
wrong, i'm pretty sure garageband still 32-bit app, meaning can never address more 4gb of ram itself. i'm not familiar enough studio 1 know how memory it'll take advantage of, appear have 64-bit version appropriate systems.
said, ram 2009/2010 mac pros pretty cheap. can upgrade 16gb of ram (4x4gb modules) owc $125.
