iPhoto turns B&W to color when uploaded from my Canon.

hello, have canon rebel xsi , first time ever, when taking pictures in black , white, 'import' iphoto in color. not sure whats going on. on camera show black , white. when iphoto first comes before hitting import button can choose import, show black , white. after imported , select 'delete originals'...goes color. ideas why going on? thanks.

 

it photo taken in color, b&w filter applied camera. when import it, imports original. there chance duplicate b&w photo anywhere?
