the headphone jack on original iphone 3gs gave out literally in last week of one-year warranty in 2010. so, fortunate full replacement apple. sadly, 9 months later headphone jack on replacement started giving out , became increasingly unusable. frustrating phone had become full-time music player , had 2 months of no use waiting iphone 4s come out.
because of these problems opted applecare+ iphone 4s though have never dropped or had accident of apple products. needed make sure had use of phone music player full 2 years. so, here mere 5+ months iphone 4s release , once again headphone jack failing.
problems have followed same pattern think of 3 stages. stage 1 headphone start cutting out in channel or getting phasy sounding if headphone cord rotates @ in phone jack. without rotation positions result in fine sound. stage 2 there several positions in can decent sound , if cord rotates @ (i.e., simple walking) sound cuts in , out. stage 3 there no way fiddle cord , decent sound. today, phone went stage 1 stage 2.
take apple replace wondering why keep having these problems, particularly since have never dropped of these phones , use music player total of several hours per week. also, while seems short me requiring replacement, there chance there dirt trapped can cleaned out air can or other method.
finally, first 2 phone (the 3gs's) using stock apple earbuds exclusively. now, past few weeks have been using new vmoda headphones come cord terminating in 45 degree angle plug. relieves pressure on plug can rotate during movement. while may cable wondering if additional rotation cause wear , tear on internal phone jack. not thinks avoid further problems after this.
i've been using v-modas since december , have no problems, don't think it's them.
