Preview constantly reloading PDFs?

hello,

preview in lion seems reloading pdfs, e.g. whenever it's been minimised while , open new pdf. screen grab of relevant bit of display attached - it's circle of grey bars spinning effect. sits there spinning away without end; preview menu bar item disappears, , preview becomes unresponsive. @ moment can force-quit preview, , opens again fine.

far can tell isn't related specific file. it's happening @ moment file has attributes (viewed via "xattr -l" in terminal). there no symlinks or aliases involved, far can tell. file size of current 1 239kb, , other files have caused problems on same scale (i.e. less 1mb).

(edit: activity monitor reports preview's memory use @ 4kb while happening, maybe it's sign preview has died me.)

has encountered/solved?
