Kernel Panics when shutting down??

i have 2009 17" macbook pro. last 2 nights shut off had kernel panic , rebooted. it's done few times in past when shut down disregarded occurrences. have happened during shut down.

can't figure out problem is; computer getting point it's old & going bad? software related?

if can shed light on might causing happen i'd appreciate it!

 

disk utility , repair permissions. if failed re download combo os update apple.
