hello , im looking large thunderbolt storage solution video , photos....soon getting 1 of new full frame dslr cameras either nikon or canon.....d800 or 5d mark iii. plan on doing 1080p video on lot , have graded memory on 2011 imac 16 gigs....now need fast storage....this why im thinking thunder bolt quality , reliability cost effective. experiences or suggestions appreciated.
there aren't lot of choices in tb storage right now. , ones available aren't i'd consider "cost effective".
lacie makes dual-disk solution called 2big thunderbolt goes 6tb , raid 0/1 switchable. start @ lofty $649 4tb. have thunderbolt variant of little big disk, it's not ton of storage video. , again, expensive (starts @ $380 1tb). western digital has few similar products out well, @ similar price points.
, there's promise pegasus arrays. come in 4- or 6-drive configurations (r4 , r6, respectively) , they're expensive (over $1,000 4tb r4). afaik, there's no way buy r4 or r6 chassis without drives installed. notable advantage pegasus stuff it'll raid-5/6 configurations aren't possible on dual-disk lacie , wd offerings.
