Thunderbolt port damage !

hi guys,
please me in !
have new 27 inch imac bought before 1 month ago.
tried use adapter :- gefen dvi mini displayport converter (ext-dvi-2-mdp) make me show pc on imac display , adapter made for. way connected dvi cable pc adapter , adapter has mini display port output used thunderbolt cable connected thunderbolt port on imac, after few seconds noticed port getting extremely heat , smelled plastic melting (from adapter side not imac side) did disconnect cable immediately. after incident tried test thunderbolt port used adapter before using hdmi cable issue thunderbolt port doesn't work more other 1 (which not used adapter) working fine.

question there possibility way connected damage thunderbolt port ?

it small issue of defective port, or cable itself.

anyway, seeing bought month ago, take local apple store , should able handle there.
