MBA Backlit Keyboard won't automatically turn on.

the keyboard light on my mba 13' mid 2011 not automatically turn on under dark environment. have physically, pressing f6, turn in on. have turned on "automatically illuminate keyboard in low light" option on in system preferences, whats going on?

 

toggle "automatically illuminate keyboard in low light" restart mba
