How thorough is a Time machine backup?

le know if time machine backup would/will backup vmware windows side also?

i've got quickbooks running in windows 7 side , wanted know if backs also.

 

if don't exclude vmware directory entire windows vm image, may not want because tm every time boot windows.

manually copy vmware image because don't want 30gig of data being backed constantly.
