need purchase gateway appliance replace ageing cisco pix+router combination.
using small/medium sized business. snowleopard server @ core (soon mountain lion).
i've demoed pfsense , (and there heaps of appliances out there ship installed next nothing) have heard of people using vyatta firewall , high perf router (certainly no near data rates our network sees).
did test install of lion server few months ago , noticed integration has ap extremes. there people using gateway? how feel security?
idea of large chunk being 'zero config' security aspect bit of big point me ap extreme.

pfsense great , free, relatively easy use until things snort. m0n0wall more basic version of if want forego of more advanced features. can use hardware prefer tiny server boards in mini itx case save power.
on commercial side, enjoy using 1 of watchguards out there. ui makes incredibly easy manage. price can little steep, money beats commercial competitors.
