Cleaning iPad2 screen??

i got ipad2 screen protector , before put on need clean screen of smudges, fingerprint , other residue might there.

understand says should use lint-free cloth wipe screen, question if remove smudges , opposed smearing out on screen?? there perhaps better more thorough way of doing it?

 

i use microfiber cloth clean ipad screen, smudge marks gone once wipe down.
