2009 MacBook Pro HDD/SSD Upgrade

now know there's million of these threads. haven't found 1 answers of questions yet, forgive me if guys sick of answering these questions.

i've got 2009 macbook pro 5,3 running 8gb ram , 500gb 5400rpm drive.

work photographer , have large lightroom catalog active (~200gb). setup slow.

i've ordered owc 240gb ssd optical bay caddy , hitachi 750gb 7200rpm hdd external enclosure. i've decided hdd should go in original drive protect since they're more susceptible shock damage, ssd in optibay.

i'd have ssd running fresh install of osx snow leopard (lion isn't compatible couple programs use) , run of apps ssd. what's easiest way install osx onto ssd?

i'd set have active jobs on ssd lightroom catalog , cache folder.

else can on hdd.

i've done tonne of reading , i'm still bit confused best way set up.

in advance help.

if caddy odd, pop in 10.6 dvd, install mac os x onto formatted ssd , done it.

have ssd , hdd in 2009 mbp , made 10 gb partition on hdd, cloned 10.6 dvd onto , saved updates 10.6 onto.
way, can reinstall mac os x everywhere, if needed. made 125 gb partition direct clone of ssd, in case ssd fracks up.

or not enough answering?
