Mini DV Head Cleaner doesnt start

hi guys,

have tried log , capture vision fcp 7 , corrupted tape (dont know how). 1 suggestion had dirty head im trying clean mini dv head cleaner.

ive never done before, when put in deck , set camera vcr, pressed play , nothing happened.

whats going on?

help- appreciate it!

haven't used 1 of in years cleaner tape new or has been used? maybe run course , @ end?
