Trouble Restoring iPhone

hi there,
having trouble restoring iphone.

home button had stopped working tried restore phone see if hardware or software issue. clicked restore button in itunes, except itunes keeps saying "itunes has detected iphone in recovery mode. must restore iphone before can used itunes".

phone not in dfu mode, phone has picture of itunes logo , usb cable connector. have tried putting phone dfu mode still same message.
