i have macbook pro has been acting funny lately, , has been slow, , ms office 2008 has been freezing , crashing. got off phone isp, , apparently have been using massive amounts of bandwidth. went , took @ activity montior, , apparently, apps using bandwidth, microsoft word (#1), kernel, , window server.
know causing this? has machine been hijacked. there test can run find out up. have sophos anitvirus installed , running 6 months now, , hasn't seemed catch anything.
info or suggested steps proceed helpful.

i'd remove sophos since it's not doing because don't need anti-virus on mac.
second ran similar issues , told me reformat hard drive. have lion had redownload lion, place on boot disc, delete drive , re-install fix issues.
