this question developers have utilized location based services apis in ios sdk.
have ipad 2 64gb wifi model have buyer for, upgrading new ipad retina display. trying decide whether or not wifi versus lte. have no personal need lte. ipad 2 served me beautifully wifi , occasional tethering iphone. development test hardware, wondering if additional hardware components testing.
developing app designed ipad part of new venture. can not rule out location based services being utilized.
if sdk's provided such developer ask location data , ios determines data evaluating available (i.e. first checks gps, cell, wifi), imagine doesn't matter if lte version or not. developer, if have direct access hardware components, might better have device has of possible hardware. hope makes sense. based on have seen far, appears me apple abstracts hardware out don't have worry hardware there... can either location currently, or can't.
while research area of sdk more closely soon, hoping decide , hoping direct experience can comment.
quick background...i have been developing on 20 years , started ios development. have built 1 app far (not in app store because considering taking vision in different direction). have not built utilizing location based services yet.
sharing!

if indeed serious commercial app development, should have ipad 1, ipad 2, , ipad 3 available testing.
although can location testing without gps, it's $130. how time worth when have debug problem?
