Strange disc space issue

i had 14gb free space on mba 13, , copied 2gb of images memory card.

scrolling [no editing] thru images xee, got message saying running out of space, , sure enough when checked activity monitor, down 250mb or so.

stumped till saw there 10gb plus of 'pages out' in system memory. closes xee, deleted images, emptied trash, , got 14gb back.

idea why happening? have 4gb ram , have never seen more few kb of pages out in system memory.

 

so program xee either memory hog or has severe memory leaking issues.

anyways that's way works. when computer low on ram uses internal disk swap, uses free space.
