i'm know has been asked before , apologize making new thread, wanted make sure i'd getting newest recommendations, know these technologies being updated/upgraded time. also, few threads i've read have had mixed product reviews (some raving particular drive in later comments that drive causing issues in mac devices). i'd avoid headache, obviously.
have 15" unibody macbook pro factory-installed 250gb hard drive, full. in new drive, i'd space possible, i've read between 750gb-1tb. don't have hard requirements other this: want dependable, highest-capacity drive known have results (long-term) in macbook pros.
looking @ seagate ssd+hdd combo drive wasn't sure how go copying on backup new partitioned system:

concern of mine of programs (adobe cs3, cs5, , others) not bought , installed manufacturer's disks. pose problem cloning/copying old drive's contents on new drive?

you'll need way connect new hdd mac, there usb-sata -adapters that.
you'll need cloning software. superduper free , works brilliantly.
