10.5 Mail to 10.7 Mail?

here's deal:

old imac has leaking capacitors issue, , new kit has been ordered see if can beast functioning again (it running leopard). in meantime, decided newer imac, , 1 running lion. now, in excitement fire new machine started using mail , figured i'd port old mail on later. could've imported time machine did other files, held off (not sure why) because mail stuck on leopard machine.

know moving folders, plists, etc. question is: if old machine running again guess can move things on @ expense of new files in lion mail. so, should move current lion mail on gmail bring in after importing leopard mail? or send leopard mail gmail , move *that* in?

(yes yes, i'm still giving myself forehead smack being in hurry , not doing in correct order... )
