Upgrade existing or buy new MacBook Pro?

i've got 15inch mid 2009 macbook pro 2.8 ghz intel core 2 duo processor, 4gb 1067 mhz ddr3 ram , running nvidia geforce 9400m 256mb graphics. i've begun doing lot more video , photo processing , wondering if boost existing system cheaper purchase new computer specs needed run final cut , aperture?
